A passing trough has brought hazy skies and light to moderate rainstorms for most of the country. The Weather Office says the high levels of humidity and instability can bring heavy downpours in locations in the northwest, north, southeast and the Cibao Valley, Central Mountain Range and border area.
Onamet has issued weather alerts due to the rains that could cause urban flooding, flooding of rivers, streams and creeks and landslides in municipalities in these provinces:
Dajabón, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macorís, Montecristi, Elías Piña, La Romana, La Vega, San Juan de la Maguana, La Altagracia, Santiago, Valverde, Santiago Rodríguez, Monte Plata, Puerto Plata and El Seibo.
El Dia reports that the Aguilas vs. Licey game in Santo Domingo was suspended due to the rains.
