Competing in the U-15 division, 15-year old Rafael Cabrera is ranked 12th in the world in the U-15 and 1st in the Americas region in the same category. He has been ranked 9th. In the Dominican Republic, in December 2021, he defeated all local contestants to be named the national overall best table tennis player.
In an interview with Diario Libre, Cabrera credited his successes to his coaches Samuel Galvez and Miguel Rodríguez, his sports psychologist Manuel Antuñez, his physical trainer Rafael Castillo, and his coach in France, Danny Lo.
He has plans to make the Dominican national team for the Central American Games in El Salvador, the Pan Am Games in Chile, both in 2023.
