A probe is ongoing in the murder of beloved 61-year old Victor Daniel Erarte (Vitico) on Sunday, 30 October 2022 in Santiago. Erarte was a highly-reputed interior decorator and makeup artist, best known for his efforts to promote the Dominican carnival and folklore in general. So far, three persons are under arrest for investigation. Major General Alberto Eduardo Then, head of the National Police, has said he is personally in charge of the crime investigation.
The body of Erarte was found inside his residence in the Los Jardines Metropolitanos in Santiago. His employees are among the chief suspects of the crime. The director of the National Police in Santiago, Brigade General Ramón Azcona told the press that the corpse showed major signs of violence. An autopsy is ordered.
