Education Minister Angel Hernandez says he has received threats to his life for probing into past irregularities at the Ministry of Education. Hernandez has been open about his findings. He said he notified the National Investigations Bureau (DNI) of the threats. The DNI says it is investigating.
As reported in Hoy, when asked if there are mafia structures within the Ministry of Education, Ángel Hernández answered: “In the Ministry there are many problems; I cannot say that there are mafia structures, I can only say that there are many contracts that are undue, many things have been done.”
Hernandez has shared the case of the 600,000 desks contracted during the term of his predecessors, of which only 80,000 have been delivered over the past five years.
“Many things have been done but that takes away the role, the time that one must dedicate to what is the priority at the Ministry, which is education, one has to dedicate time to resolve issues that are conjectural, that type of issue is what must be resolved to be able to dedicate oneself to things that can have an impact on the Ministry which is to improve the quality of the educational process,” pointed out Hernández. Hernández was appointed to the position on 3 August 2022, replacing Roberto Furcal.
