The First Collegiate Court of Santo Domingo sentenced Janli Disla Batista, a corporal of the National Police, to 20 years in prison for voluntary manslaughter for shooting architect Leslie Rosado in the head in October 2021. The court also found Rafael Castillo Novas guilty of complicity. He was sentenced to 10 years in the same case. The men were ordered to serve the sentence at the San Pedro de Macoris jail. The prosecutors had requested 30 years in prison for Disla.
While Disla Batista and an accomplice were sentenced the court did not look into the real motives for the crime, the reason why a military truck trailed the policeman on motorcycle, or other strange occurrences related to the case. The court accepted the word of Disla that he murdered the woman for brushing him and his family on a motorcycle.
