
The Ministry of Public Health has issued an epidemiological alert for the heavy rains and flooding. The heavy rains mostly affected Greater Santo Domingo, but the epidemiological alert is for the entire country.
The Ministry of Public health urges the population to take actions to avoid the spread of diseases such as dengue, malaria, leptospirosis, gastrointestinal, tetanus, conjunctivitis, respiratory diseases and Covid-19.
On Saturday, 5 November 2022, the Center for Emergency Operations (COE) had issued yellow warnings for La Altagracia, Hato Mayor, El Seíbo, Semana, Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, Monseñor Nouel, San Cristóbal, San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Cristi, Santo Domingo and the National District.
Green alerts were issued for Puerto Plata, Santiago, Valverde, Santiago Rodríguez, San Juan, La Vega, Duarte, María Trinidad Sánchez and Azua.
The Dominican government issued Decree 638-22 declaring the National District and province of Santo Domingo in a state of emergency.
