Record arrivals in October 2022

The Ministry of Tourism said that air arrivals in October 2022 were 491,788, a new record for Dominican tourism. The October total is 32% (119,582 more travelers)
when compared to the same month in pre-pandemic year of 2019.

Air arrivals so far this year are 5,826,078. He said the trend for setting a record of 7 million tourists continues, despite the lull caused by flight cancellations due to Hurricane Fiona in September.

There was an increase of 88,178 cruise ship arrivals in October 2022. The breakdown is: Amber Cove received 49,342 more arrivals, Taíno Bay 26,100 more in Puerto Plata, La Romana Port some 10,589 more and Sans Soucí Port of Santo Domingo, 2,147 more. Maritime travelers also increased considerably and reached 894,419 from January to October 2022.

So far, when adding maritime and air arrivals, 6.72 million visitors have arrived by air and sea to the Dominican Republic.

Collado says the estimate is that the flow of tourists has generated more than US$517 million in hard currency.
