Border security arrested at the Elías Piña border crossing two Haitian women and accused these of attempted smuggling of 22,160 rounds of ammunition from the Dominican Republic to Haiti.

The Specialized Corps of Land Border Security (Cesfront) arrested Milien Midrene Manessa and Fara Josef, who were accompanied by a minor, for trying to introduce into Haiti 22,160 rounds of ammunition for 12,000 7.62mm caliber and 10,160 5.56mm caliber guns in an irregular manner on board a white Lexus Toyota SUV.

A search of the vehicle by Cesfront soldiers determined the women were carrying five cell phones, 39,510.00 Haitian gourdes, 1,100.00 Dominican pesos and a passport No.R10007902 in the name of the Haitian national Yvanosky Joachim.
