
The jury of the “Women Who Change the World Award” of the BHD Bank chose Seneida Vargas (La Negra) the winner of the 2022 BHD Award. She is recognized for promoting community actions and projects in favor of empowering women in Arroyo Cano in San Juan de la Maguana. She receives a RD$1 million cash prize.
During the event, the BHD Bank also recognized the life work of Angelina Cartagena, sister Maria Jose, for her social work over more than 50 years in the Los Barrancones community of Baní. Cartagena is behind many schools, workshops, pregnant teenager programs, recycling programs and a school of music in the community.
Vice President Raquel Peña was present to deliver the award together with Luis Molina Achecar, president of the Bank and Steven Puig, executive president.
The finalists were Cinthia Núñez, Julia Tavares-Bucher, Katerine Motyka, Mayra Johnson, Odile Villavizar and Samantha Canals.
The members of the jury were: Claudia Catrain, Huchi Lora, Maria Amalia León, Oscar Villanueva, Soledad Alvarez, Steven Puig.
