Record 2023 budget will spend RD$92 billion on social issues

The Abinader administration proposes to spend RD$92 billion of the recently submitted RD$1.2 trillion 2023 National Budget on social programs. The government sent the bill to Congress in October 2022. The government says the programs seek to shield the most vulnerable from global issues such as the war in Ukraine and the impacts of rising oil prices and housing costs. The subsidies include Christmas bonuses, additional payments for children, and the usual Superate, LPG and electricity extras.
