
The Entertainment Writers Guild (Acroarte) and the Cervecería Nacional Dominicana announced the national entertainment industry awards, the Soberano Awards, would take place in March 2023. Acroarte and the Cervecería presented the show “Soberano: the Infinite Dominican Talent” to announce next year’s award ceremony. The Cervecería is the brewer of Presidente beer, the long time sponsor of the event.
During the announcement event, the lifelong contributions of comedian Cuquín Victoria, and merengue singers Pochy Familia, Adalgisa Pantaleón and Juan Luis Guerra and 4-40 were recognized at the Garden Room of the Hotel Embajador. Others recognized were Carlos Cepeda Suriel, the creator of the awards, and CERTV, Channel 4, for being the first channel to broadcast the award. Ellis Perez, president of the board of directors of the state television channel received the recognition for the station.
The Soberano Awards will be held in March 2023. The actual date is yet to be announced.
Acroarte’s president, Emelyn Baldera said digital platforms such as Spotify, YouTube and Facebook will be used to measure the popularity and acceptance of Dominican talents and help with the choice of the awards for 2023.
Both Acroarte’s president, Emelyn Baldera and Luis Álvarez, executive vice-president of the Cervecería Nacional Dominicana (CND), said next year’s event will be one with many innovations to better connect the awards to the general audience.
