Former CNSS manager appointed ambassador to Colombia

President Luis Abinader appointed Felix Aracena Vargas to be the country’s ambassador in Colombia. In March 2022, Aracena Vargas had resigned from his position as general manager at the National Council of Social Security (CNSS) held since the start of the Abinader administration in August 2020. The council is in charge of relations between health providers, physicians, clinics and government entities. The CNSS has been in conflict now that the Dominican Medical Association (CMD) demands better conditions for its members in the health plan companies. The CMD president, Dr. Senen Caba has declared the CNSS responds to private interests of the major financial companies that operate the health insurance companies (ARSs).

Aracena Vargas’ appointment is in Presidential Decree 731-22.
