Nothing has been decided yet in the Dominican Winter Professional Baseball Championship. Baseball fans are encouraged to attend the stadiums in Santo Domingo, La Romana, San Pedro de Macoris, San Francisco de Macorís, or Santiago to catch the action. Several Dominican Major League players are helping their teams get into the 4-team semifinals. For instance, famous Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will play on Wednesday, 14 December 2022 for the Estrellas Orientales as he strives to get his team into the second phase.
The standings are Tigres del Licey and Aguilas Cibaeñas in first place. Gigantes del Cibao 6 and a half games away from the first place; Estrellas Orientales 9.5 games out. But the Toros del Este are only two games behind the Gigantes del Cibao (and the fourth-place cut-off). Likewise, technically, the Leones del Escogido could still make the fourth-place slot, as there are still 15 games to go this week before the end of the regular season.
The second phase round-robin is scheduled to start 20 December with the participation of the top four teams yet to be defined.
