
The executive director of Intrant, Hugo Beras calls on all drivers to check the condition of their vehicles before traveling within the country. He urges people to keep to the speed limits, respect traffic signs, and not to drink alcoholic beverages while driving, as established in Transit Law 63-17.
“We want to ask the Dominican population to be prudent while driving so that these days of Christmas and New Year do not become days of regret for families,” Beras said.
Beras says that this year’s Christmas and New Year operation “Conciencia por la Vida 2022” includes awareness talks and inspections of public transportation vehicles. The inspections will be carried out at interurban public transportation stops to ensure road safety for users in the South, North, East and West regions of the country.
The visual inspection of vehicles at bus terminals are from Wednesday, 19 December through Saturday, 24 December. For the New Year festivities, inspections start on the 28th and will last through the 31st.
The bus inspections will be at the Haina bus stop at Km 12 of the 30 de Mayo Highway; Pinturas, at Isabel Aguiar and Prolongación 27 de Febrero avenues; at the North terminal, at km 9 of the Duarte Highway, and at the Caribe Tours bus terminal. There will be inspections at the bus stops in Villa Mella, Mamá Tingó Metro Station and Monte Plata bus stop, Máximo Gómez, San Juan de la Maguana, San Cristóbal, Azua, Barahona, La Vega, Nagua, La Romana, San Francisco de Macorís and La Altagracia, among others.
