
Dominican power producer Empresa Generadora de Electricidad Haina SA (EGE Haina) has signed the definitive concession agreement with the National Energy Commission (CNE) for the 90-MWp Esperanza solar project. The solar park is expected to regularly generate 76 MW, sufficient to supply 83,000 local households in the northwestern Valverde province.
Luis Mejía Brache, general manager of EGE Haina signed the concession to install the photovoltaic farm, a US$94 million investment. An area of 180 hectares will be used and 166,670 bifacial solar panels will be installed. The solar energy farm will have installed capacity to generate 200,000 MWh per year.
The concession is for 25 years.
