An alert by flight attendant discovers altered videos and obtains release of crew

In spring 2022, the flight crew of a small Canadian airline, Pivot Airlines, were detained after they revealed to the authorities a strange cargo had been brought on board. The pilot’s pre-flight inspection of the aircraft found the illegal cargo that could have been fatal on takeoff as it could have seriously upset the balance of the plane.

When the bags were opened 210 kgs of cocaine were found. The entire flight crew and the passengers were hauled into custody.

For several days they were jailed but later put into house arrest at a local hotel in Punta Cana.

In mid-November the entire case was dropped due to a lack of evidence to incriminate the crew. It was the flight attendant that lead investigators to double check the original videos that served as “proof,” as she indicated these had been altered and a significant portion of the actual events leading to the loading of the drugs eliminated.

The missing portions of the film showed Punta Cana International Airport personnel placing the bags into the improper compartments.

So far, according to Canadian sources, nothing has been done in the Dominican Republic to investigate the incident, a report in Acento reveals.
