Major figures in corruption cases get to go home for Christmas

It’s not too bad to be in custody for corruption in the Dominican Republic. In three of the five really big corruption cases currently in Dominican courts, the main suspects have been sent home under house arrest after serving 18 months of preventive custody. These include the former president’s brother, Alexis Medina and the former presidential security head, Major General Adan Caceres. The cases are the Antipulpo (Anti-octopus), the Coral case, and Operation 13. The sums involved are really mind-boggling and way up in the billions of pesos. Only in the Medusa case, which involves former Attorney General Jean Alain Rodriguez, will the main suspects spend the holiday behind bars
