The Aguilas Cibaeñas pulled ahead in the game in which they defeated the Tigres del Licey at the Quisqueya-Juan Marichal Ball Park in Santo Domingo on 2 January 2023. The game marked the restart of the Dominican Professional Winter Professional Baseball Championship after the New Year’s holiday break.
On the same day, the Estrellas Orientales defeated the Gigantes del Cibao in the Gigantes’ hometown of San Francisco de Macorís.
The Aguilas and the Estrellas are now at the top of the round-robin to choose the playoff teams.
