On the last day of the National Congress’s regular session, the Dominican Republic legislature passed a bill that makes official ongoing improvements to the National Civil Registry System that records births, deaths, weddings and divorces.
The amendments passed by the legislature will allow adults (18 years or older) to change the order of his/her last names as documented in the Civil Registry. The current Civil Registry law dates from 1944.
