
December 2022 was a record month for tourism with 765,910 visitors for the first time ever.
Overall, the Dominican Republic received over seven million tourists last year. The number of air arrivals is about 20% more than arrivals in pre-pandemic year of 2019.
Tourism Minister David Collado estimates the tourists generated over US$8 billion to the national economy.
Along with the figure of 7,165,387 tourist air arrivals, there were 1.3 million visitors that came on board cruise liners, also a new record.
When added together, the total of air and sea visitors marks a new record in tourist arrivals for the Dominican Republic.
