Luperón is a Puerto Plata province beach town with restaurants that serves fresh fish. Luperón is close to La Isabela, with more beaches and the historic La Isabela park.
President Luis Abinader was recently in Puerto Plata to inaugurate the fishing and sailboat docks in Luperón Bay. The government invested RD$11 million to improve the experience of hundreds of sailboat owners that do stay overs in Luperón as they cross the Atlantic Ocean on their way to the eastern Caribbean. The improvements in the docks is a major plus for the fishermen that make a living in the area.
President Abinader also took time to visit the site of the La Isabela Archaeologic Site, which marks the location where Christopher Columbus established the first European settlement in the New World upon his first travel to the island in 1492. The government renovated the museum installations and made improvements to the Santa Isabela Parrish, an investment of RD$20 million.
