Diario Libre probes permissions for new universities

There are red flags in the granting of permissions for the operation of new universities in the Dominican Republic, Diario Libre reports. The newspaper questions the authorizations granted by Higher Education Minister Franklin García Fermín, a former rector of the state university, UASD. The newspaper reports that statements in a letter García Fermín sent to Diario Libre responding to questions contradicts the evidence to the contrary in other documents from the Ministry of Higher Education.

The newspaper questions the granting of permissions to the Universidad de La Romana (Uniromana), the Universidad Santo Domingo Norte (Unisnorte).
