Medical Association calls for not accepting insurance plans on 8 and 9 February 2023

The Dominican Medical Association (CMD) called for its affiliates to not accept insurance plans for consultations on Thursday, 9 and Friday, 10 February 2023. Only emergencies and critical patients will be attended using insurance plans.

The CMD complains that the National Council of Social Security (CNSS) has refused to meet the demands of physicians and private clinics. The CMD is demanding fee and medicine allotment increases, including patients with mental disorders and disabled patients in the coverage.

The Medical Association warned that these stoppages will be staggered in the coming days and will include the private plans of said intermediaries. “It is regrettable that we have had to resort to these methods in the face of the stubbornness of instances that far from arbitrating with balance, continue to choose to make the rich more powerful,” the CMD said in a press release.

The CMD also called on the whole country, especially the inhabitants of the south, to participate in the protest march to be held this Wednesday, 8 February 8, in Barahona, which will start from the Plazoleta Duarte to the Malecon.
