29-year old Jairo Joel Gonzalez Duran was arrested in Jarabacoa on 13 February 2023. He is accused of fraud and operating a ponzi scheme structure. Around 70 persons have already placed claims for being defrauded by a venture operated by Gonzalez. Gonzalez was taken to the Ciudad Nueva Attorney General temporary jail to await preventive custody charges.
As reported, Gonzalez came up with a scheme that enabled him to go from being a taxi driver to entrepreneur and financial wiz, showing considerable wealth. He ran Harvest Trading Cap (registered in 2019), for investing in crypto-currency and other financial schemes.
