Air Force show to celebrate 75th anniversary

An Air Force air show on Sunday, 19 February 2023 was marred when at least six persons were slightly injured when two tents collapsed. The injured, that included three minors, were treated at the Ramón de Lara Air Force Base military hospital. The event coincided with the 75th anniversary of the Air Force.

Air Force commander, Major General Carlos Febrillet Rodríguez headed the event held for the enjoyment of the family. Diario Libre reports that the air show began with a low altitude troop jump from a Casa 212 Aviocar aircraft performed by combat paratroopers.

The highlight of the show was the A-10 Thunderbolt ground attack aircraft, developed in the United States in the 1970s, which had two displays, piloted by Major Haden ‘Gator’ Fullam.

The air show is part of 75 events the Air Force has coordinated for the celebration of its 75th anniversary.
