Doctors extend pause in boycotts as accord looms

The Dominican Medical Association (CMD) has announced extending its pause in their call for doctors and specialists not to accept insurance plans. Public Health Minister Daniel Rivera, who heads the negotiating team for the National Social Security Board, has been in talks with the leaders of both the CMD and the medical societies that brings together all the specialists. It is said that Vice President Raquel Peña is now taking part in the talks. The major points of discussion are well known, and deal with increased pay for doctors and specialists, more coverage for more illnesses, and other increased benefits for the people who pay for the health insurance from the HMOs.
