President Luis Abinader enacted Electoral Regime Law 20-23 with amendments to Electoral Regime Law 15-19. The president of the Central Electoral Board (JCE), Román Jáquez Liranzo, lamented the legislators lost an opportunity with the passing of the law without dozens of key amendments the institution had requested be passed in time for the 2024 general elections.
