
The 44th International Independence Cycling Tour is happening in the Dominican Republic taking the best Dominican and international competitors on tour of the Dominican Republic. 24 teams are competing — 14 international and 10 from the Dominican Republic.
The event began on Tuesday, 21 February with the stage: Santo Domingo-San Pedro de Macorís-La Romana, for 117 km. Deivy Capellán of the Dominican Republic won this stage.
The second stretch is from Plaza de la Bandera to Baní, Azua and Barahona, 178 km.
The third stage is from Barahona, Azua, Baní, ending in San Cristobal with 161 km.
The fourth leaves on Friday and is from Santo Domingo to San Francisco de Macorís in the northeast, for 205 km.
The fifth stage is on Saturday, leaving from Puerto Plata and ending in Santiago, 137 km.
The final sixth stage on Sunday, is Moca-Santiago-Cosntanza, in mountainous terrain, for 132 km.
The competition ends with a 40 km closed circuit in the Mirador del Sur Park in Santo Domingo.
