Abinader would get 52%, Leonel 27% and Abel 19% if elections were held today, according to CID Gallup

Hoy newspaper publishes today the results of a recent CID Gallup poll. The poll was carried out 7-12 March 2023 with face-to-face interviews at their homes with 1,273 citizens eligible to vote.

The results show that incumbent President Luis Abinader has enough support to win the May 2024 election in a first round. According to the poll, Abinader would get 52%, former President Leonel Fernandez (People’s Force) 27% and incumbent Santiago Mayor Abel Martinez (PLD) 19%, if elections were held on the day of the poll.

The poll revealed that 68% of the population has a “favorable” and “very favorable” opinion of the President and that 59% of the citizens approve his work as President.

In addition, 58% of the citizens said they were “very proud” and “somewhat proud” to have Luis Abinader as President.

The survey was carried out at national level to a representative sample of the adult population by the firm CID Gallup, with a sample of 1,273 and a margin of error of ±2.75 in its total results (95% confidence, p=0.5).
