The Second Court of Instruction of the National District postponed for the second time the start of the preliminary trial against the former director of the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) Félix Alburquerque Comprés. He is accused of the death of the communicator Manuel Duncan.
The court postponed the hearing for Tuesday, 4 April 2023, after one of the plaintiffs, constituted as a civil plaintiff, presented a medical leave of absence.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has established that in the early morning of Friday, 18 August 2022, a fight broke out between the accused and Taveras Duncan, which culminated in the death of the latter, at the hands of the retired vice admiral, as a result of a firearm bullet wound.
The crime occurred after the two exchanged words in a fast food establishment located on the corner of Núñez Cáceres and Rómulo Betancourt avenues, in the Los Cacicazgos sector of the National District. The murder was captured in a video widely disseminated by electronic media.
Taveras Duncan died due to a gunshot wound in the right hemithorax and exit in the dorsal region, according to the report No. 65197, carried out by the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif).
