The media found out that 63-year old Adriano Colon is a very serious, efficient and responsible employee. He made headlines, nevertheless, when he walked down the stairs behind King of Spain Felipe VII. People speculated he did not have a clue as to who he was shadowing.
Colon is an employee of Samsic Handling Dominicana that is in charge of providing ground services to the aircraft on which the King of Spain arrived to participate in the 28th Iberoamerican Summit. Unknowingly, Colón violated the security protocol of the King of Spain, Felipe VI, when the later disembarked at Las Americas International Airport. The company says they are investigating the breach in protocol.
Noticias SIN reported that Colon explained there had been a problem with the handrail of the staircase that had been obstructing the door of the aircraft.
Noticias SIN found out that Colón did not know when going down the steps of the plane that the person who was in front of him was the King of Spain, Felipe VI. Colón told Noticias SIN that he had no other intention rather than to correct the problem of the handrail with the staircase.
A video showing Adriano Colón walking very close behind the King of Spain went viral as this was clearly a violation of the security protocol during the arrival of the King of Spain, Felipe VI, to the Dominican Republic on Thursday afternoon, 23 March 2023, to participate in the Ibero-American Summit 2023.
