Steven Puig is the new president of BHD Bank. Long-standing Luis Molina Achécar will remain as president of the BHD Financial Center. The announcement was made following the vote during the BHD Bank Annual Ordinary Shareholders’ Meeting.
“In the ten years he has been with the company, Steven has shown ample capacity and strong values while leading important initiatives, the most transcendental being the technological and digital transformation process that the institution is undertaking to respond to the present and future needs of our clients and guarantee the sustainability of our institution,” commented Molina Achécar, upon making the announcement.
By the end of 2022, 80% of BHD Bank’s clients were using the financial institution’s digital channels.
The BHD Bank reported results for fiscal year 2022 that exceeded the goals set for the year. The institution indicated that as of 31 December 2022, the net loan portfolio reached RD$254,49 billion for a growth of 20.4%, which was reflected in an increase in participation in all market segments. Deposits increased from RD$321.14 billion to RD$351.16 billion, while assets rose to RD$459.74 billion. The total income of Banco BHD went from RD$43.98 billion to RD$49.80 billion. In regards to profits net of income tax, these amounted to RD$9.83 billion, 13.2% higher than those of the previous year.
When appearing before the assembly, Molina Achécar highlighted the prudential management and the soundness of the portfolio. The NPL and past-due portfolio indicator stood at 1.2 %, with a provision coverage ratio of 3.6 times. On the other hand, the solvency ratio was 16.4 %, 1.6 times higher than required.
In the change of structure of Banco BHD, the entity appointed José Luis Alonso as executive president of Insurance and Pensions. Likewise, Carlos Guillermo León has been appointed as president of Securities Market and Fiducia. Luis Lembert will be executive vice-president and Josefina González will be senior vice-president of Personal and Business Banking.
