Diario Libre reports that the power barge property of the Turkish company, Karandeniz Powership has docked in Azua. The ship would generate 170 megawatts to boost power availability and enable maintenance works of other power plants. Diario Libre reports that the ship is docked in an environmentally-vulnerable area. Earlier efforts to dock in Azua were rejected by the population. Likewise, the ship originally had sought to install itself in Boca Chica, but that municipality rejected this.
Diario Libre says no one at the company nor the Ministry of Energy has been available for comments.
The barge arrived right before Easter Week, when people are in vacation mode and press coverage and interest is reduced.
