How many? We do not know, yet

The National Statistics Office (ONE) has just announced that the preliminary results of last year’s National Census will not be released until the third quarter of this year because of the complexities of computerizing the data collection. ONE had said that results would be available in the first quarter of the year.

Although generally computerized, with extended weeks of canvassing, and tens of thousands of census-takers, the ONE has yet to release any results. According to the office, the first quarter of the year was spent organizing the database, and evaluating the coverage and quality of the census itself.

This was the tenth national census that counts people and also collects data on housing, agriculture and employment.
