The ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) legislator Sergio (Goris) Moya is known more for not attending the sessions as for his legislative work as a deputy for the government party. Now he is mentioned as one of the key people in the Operation Squid government corruption case. He is singled out for his involvement as a leading betting shop operator (Merengue Sport). The Operation Squid focuses on extortion of people related to the higher-ups at the Ministry of Hacienda who extorted those with illegal operations in betting shops or gambling machines in casinos to let these stay in business.
Moya (Goris) needs his fellow legislators to authorize his prosecution. Then his case needs to be heard by the Supreme Court of Justice because he has privileged jurisdiction. Will this happen?
Meanwhile, prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso says she will ask for the corresponding judge for authorization to begin the investigations into the dealings of the legislator.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office Operation Squid file states that the former Hacienda Minister Donald Guerrero used a non-governmental structure composed of Ramon Emilio (Mimilo) Jiménez, Fernando Crisóstomo, José Arturo Ureña and José Pablo Ortiz Giraldo to make illegal charges through the Casino and Gaming Agency of the Ministry of Hacienda, to sports and lottery betting shops that operated illegally, and for the use of slot machines in places not allowed by law, such as small grocery stores.
Corrupción al Desnudo carries an audio with foul language by the legislator and insights into his wheelings and dealings.
