Journalist Nuria Piera posted a video on her Instagram account to clarify the health situation of her friend, prominent immigration lawyer Yadira Morel, after a social media-posted video, revealed that she was destitute, as reported on Diario Libre.
Piera confirmed that indeed, the famous Dominican migration lawyer has Alzheimer’s, but that she is at home well cared for and not wandering the streets as has been circulated in some media and social networks.
“Yadira Morel does not need money, she has money, she eats every day,” said Piera. She explained that her friend would be better cared for in a specialized center, but that Morel’s conditions are not that advanced.
Piera said that on Saturday, 15 April 2023 (Nuria Investigación Periodística – Channel 9 at 9pm), she will air a segment on the migration lawyer who became famous for her radio program where she answered migration questions of the general public.
Regarding the Alzheimer’s disease affecting Morel, Piera says that her friend forgets things that happened five or six minutes ago but that her memory of past events, “the one from behind, is still intact.”
