Orlando Jorge Villegas is new director of public relations for PRM

The ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) has appointed National District deputy Orlando Salvador Jorge Villegas as its new director of public relations.

“I thank Jose Ignacio Paliza, Carolina Mejía Gómez, Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, Alfredo Pacheco, and in them, the members of the National Committee of the PRM, for proposing us to head the public relations department of our party. As always, we will seek to innovate and do our best,” said the capital city legislator.

The appointment was announced during an activity attended by members and leaders of the Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM), where other party members who will become part of the new board were also appointed.

Jorge Villegas has a degree in Social Communications and has completed studies in public relations, political communication, presidential election management, at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE), the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), the George Washington University, and the Escuela de Organización Industrial in Madrid (EOI).

Jorge Villegas has served as a TV news reporter (Telenoticias), press director in Antena Noticias 7, and coordinator and host of the Sol de los Sábados on Zol FM radio program. He produces and hosts the television program “Líderes” on Color Visión, and is responsible for the “La Trinchera” podcast by Faia Media. He is also managing partner of Jorge Mera & Villegas, a legal consulting firm, and of Disruptiva Dominicana, a corporate communications and crisis management agency.

He is the son of the late former PRM representative in the Central Electoral Board (JCE), Orlando Jorge Mera. Jorge Mera was Minister of Environment when he was murdered in his office in 2022 by a close friend who disputed decisions Jorge Mera had taken at the Ministry of Environment. The murder case is ongoing.

Jorge Villegas is also the grandson of former President Salvador Jorge Blanco.
