
The Dominican Republic U-20 women soccer team defeated Suriname in its second Concacaf qualifier CWU20 Championship match at the Felix Sanchez Olympic Stadium in Santo Domingo. The emerging Dominican team won 3-0 over Suriname. The 32-team championship is a qualifier for the FIFA U-20 world cup.
The Dominican Republic plays in Group C – DR, Guyana, Suriname, Grenada and Dominica from 15 to 23 April 2023. The Dominican women next play Guyana on Wednesday, 19 April.
The CWU20 Championship is divided into six groups with the winners of each group scheduled to join the United States and Mexico for the finals from 24 May to 3 June 2023 at the Estadio Panamericano in San Cristóbal in the Dominican Republic. The top three teams will then represent CONCACAF, which covers North and Central America and the Caribbean, at next year’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
