
President Luis Abinader said yesterday that the Dominican Republic is in a position to lead the digital revolution in the Caribbean. He said that two million software programmers are needed now that the world is immersed in the new artificial intelligence times.
“We need an artificial intelligence strategy to avoid that it be used to disinform and violate rights of people,” said President Abinader when announcing his administration is working on an artificial intelligence strategy. Abinader spoke during the inauguration of Dominicana Innova.
The government technology office, OGTIC is hosting the event for three weeks from 12 April to 28 April 2023. The exhibitions and talks are at Agora Mall.
Dominicana Innova seeks to foster an innovative culture and strengthen the country’s systems through innovation and technological changes, while involving the public and private sector in a space where technologies are used in an accessible and inclusive way.
Bartolome Pujals is leading the initiative as director of the OGTIC.

The vulnerabilities became evidence this past weekend when statements made by Sophia, the robot at the Global Foundation Forum in Casa de Campo were distorted.
