The Third Court of Instruction of the National District postponed for Tuesday, 25 April 2023, the review of the house arrest order issued against former Attorney General Jean Alain Rodriguez Sanchez. The Public Prosecutor accuses Rodríguez Sánchez of being part of an alleged corruption network that operated from the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) headquarters. He has an impediment to leave the country and is mandated to use electronic foot shackles.
Judge Amauri Martínez announced the postponement of the hearing at the request of Rodríguez’s lawyers, Carlos Balcácer and Gustavo Biaggi. The Public Prosecutor’s Office of the PGR deposited a document with reasons against the change from house arrest to free transit requested by the defense of Rodríguez Sanchez.
The lawyers of the former attorney general said they request that their client be free to work and move freely except for leaving the country and the requirement that he appear in court when summoned.
