Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship update

The 2023 Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship is set to take place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic from 24 May to 3 June 2023. The teams are the United States, Mexico, Canada, Panama, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Jamaica and Costa Rica. These teams finished in first place in their respective groups during the CWU20Q to secure their slots in the competition. The field for the event was completed over the weekend.

Concacaf reports that for two-time CWU20 champions Canada (2004, 2008) this is their 10th CWU20 attempt to qualify for their ninth U20 Women’s World Cup.

Panama returns for a seventh time and aims for a first ever U20 Women’s World Cup appearance, as are Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic.

Jamaica is in the CWU20 for the 12th time. The tournament will be the third appearance for Puerto Rico and the fourth for Dominican Republic.

Costa Rica will be playing in the Championship for a seventh time and is seeking a fourth participation in a U20 Women’s World Cup.

The eight-team competition will qualify its top three finishers (finalists and third place match winner) to next year’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
