The Presidency has introduced the bill that would create the Ministry of Justice. The bill was submitted first to the Chamber of Deputies.
The legal advisor to the Executive Branch, Antoliano Peralta Romero, deposited the bill on Wednesday, 3 May 2023.
The bill creates and organizes the structure and functions of different players in the justice system. It establishes the judicial and extrajudicial representation of the state and the Public Administration, together with the coordination with the National System of Human Rights and the Penitentiary and Correctional System.
The bill leaves the Attorney General Office with the criminal prosecution. It delegates to the proposed Ministry of Justice administrative roles such as the management of the penitentiary system, the forensic scientific assistance to the courts and investigate bodies, and the registration and certification of official and notarial documents.
The legal advisor to the President, Antoliano Peralta Romero also deposited a cybercrime bill that seeks to create the legal framework to prevent, prosecute and punish crimes that use information and communication technologies. The new bill would repeal High Tech Crime Law 53-07.
