
The Central American Bank for Economic Integrations (BCIE) has approved over US$1.5 billion in funding for initiatives fostering human development, social inclusion, sustainable competitiveness and regional integration in the first quarter of 2023 for the region.
According to sources at the bank’s headquarters in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, of this amount, the Dominican Republic has received the largest part. Other countries such as Costa Rica, Guatemala and Argentina have also received funding for some eight projects so far this year.
As of the current date, the Dominican Republic has received 39% of all the funding this year, making the country the largest beneficiary of the programs. Costa Rica has received 32% of the funding.
The organization says that it will probably approve operations for over US$3.3 billion for 2023.
