Marileidy wins bin in Doha Diamond League

Dominican Olympic silver medalist Marileidy Paulino (Tokyo 2020) has begun the World Athletics Championships (Wanda Diamond League) with a bang.

Once again, Marileidy Paulino has shown that she is one of the world’s top runners in women’s track as she sped to victory in the 400-meter race in the Doha, Qatar Diamond League event on 9 May 2023. Paulino clocked 50.51 to defeat Shamier Little of the USA (50.84) and Natalia Kaczmarek of Poland (51.64). Paulino receives a US$10,000 cash award for the win. She is a contender to win the US$30,000 cash award for the top winner in each category. The winners also get invitations to the World Athletics Championships.

Paulino’s personal best in the event is 48.99.

Also competing in the event were Olympians Sada Williams (52.05) of Barbados, Candice McLeod of Jamaica (52.43), and Stephanie Ann McPherson of Jamaica (52.93).

The next Diamond League World Athletics Championships competition will be 19-27 August in Budapest, Hungary.
