
Minister of Industry & Commerce (MICM) Víctor “Ito” Bisonó announced the Financial Counterpart Fund for the Development of Entrepreneurship (CONFIE). The funds will be used to grant loans to entrepreneurs and help them to grow their businesses.
The announcement was made during the swearing-in ceremony of the new board of directors of the National Entrepreneurship Network (RD-Emprende). RD-Emprende will be instrumental in the management of the new fund.
The RD-Emprende board is headed by the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE); the Technological University of Santiago (UTESA) will have the vice-presidency; the American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AmChamDR) will be in the treasury; the Dominican Municipal League will be a member and the MICM under the direction of the technical secretariat.
Minister of Industry & Commerce Victor Bisonó said RD-Emprende has been essential to bolster the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Dominican Republic, as it articulates efforts that promote new ventures and strengthens existing ones.
The National Network of Entrepreneurship, (RD-Emprende) is a body attached to the Ministry of Industry & Commerce. It gathers 38 entities that share knowledge, experiences and resources to support the development of new projects and businesses, especially those led by young people.
