Teams from the DR win awards at NASA robotics competition

Dominican robotic students win several awards at the NASA 2023 Human Exploration Rover Challenge (HERC). The NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge will encourage research and development of new technologies for future mission planning and crewed space missions to other worlds.

Dominican students from the Liceo Científico Dr. Miguel Canela Lázaro in Salcedo, Hermanas Mirabal province and university students from the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo and the Instituto Especializado de Estudios Superiores Loyola in San Cristobal received awards for their participation.

The Dominican Republic swept the Jeff Norris and Joe Sexton Memorial Pit Crew Award with the Liceo Científico Dr. Miguel Canela Lázaro of Salcedo, Hermanas Mirabal province, winning the award together with the Instituto Especializado de Estudios Superiores Loyola in San Cristobal, province.

The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo in the National District won two awards – the Team Spirit Award and the Most Improved Performance Award in the college/university division.

Diario Libre interviewed the students of the Loyola higher learning institute to get their feedback on their participation in the NASA Challenge 2023.
