Last week, Mark Penn/Stagwell released its results showing that President Luis Abinader (PRM) had 47%, Leonel Fernandez (FP) 32% and Abel Martinez (PLD) 19% of the intention to vote.
Now the company has released more findings. A high 32% do not sympathize with any party, and only half have decided who to vote for. 53% say they are satisfied with Abinader’s work.
Which party do you sympathize with? 32% of voters say they do not sympathize with any political party. The poll company says this is a surprise given that in 1981 when Mark Penn began to make surveys in the Dominican Republic, independents barely reached 7%. Those were the times of charismatic figures such as Bosch, Balaguer, and Peña Gómez.
The analysis of the poll stats indicates that 32% sympathize today with the ruling PRM, 14% with the FP, and 12% with the PLD.
69% of older people tend to sympathize more with a political party. On the underhand, 63% of those under 34 consider themselves independent. 40% of the PLD supporters consider themselves independents.

If the presidential elections were held today, for which party’s presidential candidate would you vote?
When asked about voting intentions by party, 46% indicate the PRM, 25% the FP, 16% the PLD, 2% for other parties, and 11% are undecided or do not know. People over 35 years, especially those over 65, are those who most sympathize with the PRM, while young people sympathize with the PLD.
How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the work of President Luis Abinader? 44% are satisfied with the work of President Abinader in the fight against corruption, 41% in the actions to check Haitian migration, but only 32% in the handling of inflation, 29% in the fight against crime and insecurity and 27% in the issue of unemployment. While young people are the most satisfied on the Haitian issue, they are the least satisfied on the issue of crime and security. Among independents, there is less satisfaction with the work of the Dominican President in these five areas.
Which statement best fits your decision on the presidential vote? Half of Dominicans have not yet decided on their next vote. The poll revealed that 57% of the PLD sympathizers have not decided.
Forty-four percent of voters think that the current government has less corruption than before, 28% believe that there is more corruption, and 25% think that corruption is the same. Among independents 38% think there is less and 31% think there is more. Men and the elderly are the ones who think there is less corruption.
