Legal advisor to President Luis Abinader, lawyer Antoliano Peralta expressed his concern on the revelation made by the Attorney General that government intelligence members are operating in complicity with criminals.
“It is a serious accusation that must be paid attention to,” Antoliano Peralta said when commenting on the recent Halcon IV raids in the Cibao provinces to crack down on criminal networks.
Following the accusations made by the Public Prosecutor’s Office that unnamed members of state investigation agencies are involved in the alleged criminal networks, Peralta said these are serious accusations that must be investigated.
In a note distributed on Tuesday, 13 June 2023, after the operations against drug trafficking, the Attorney General’s Office said that “members of different investigative agencies of the state are committed to these criminal networks, for which the authorities will proceed to submit them to disciplinary and even criminal proceedings to be separated from the institution, in the cases that merit it.”
It is recalled that these raids are carried out in the framework of an investigation against alleged Dominican capos, who have threatened the Attorney General Miriam German Brito and her family, for her efforts to eliminate mafias operating inside the country’s penitentiaries.

In a late development in the case, Listin Diario reports that Attorney General Miriam German Brito has been relocated to a secret dwelling with her family after being threatened, supposedly by one of the accused who is now sought in extradition from Spain, Joel Ambioris Pimentel García (La J). Listin Diario reports that when the today Attorney General was the presiding judge of the Criminal Court of the Supreme Court of Justice she voted in favor of ratifying a five-year jail sentence against a brother of Pimentel Garcia.
