
Free trade manufacturing zones are now employing more than 195,000 employees, up from 133,000 during the pre-pandemic year 2019. The forecasts are for by the end of this year there to be more than 200,000 persns employed in these manufacturing zones.
Speaking during a conference at the UTESA Convention Center in Santiago, Ulises Rodriguez, general director of the Center for Industrial Development and Competitiveness, Proindustria,
pointed out that in 2022 alone, exports amounted to US$7.83 billion, something never seen before. He said free zone manufacturing exports are 63% of the country’s total exports.
In the month of May, the free zone exporter sector broke the monthly record with US$774,998,785.
There are currently more companies installed with a total of 812 operating throughout the country.
