Drugs found in pickup in Santo Domingo port

The National Drug Control Agency reported the seizing of 30 packages of suspected cocaine at the Don Diego Port of Santo Domingo. The cocaine was found on board the ferry.

DNCD agents, Port Security Corps, Customs Agency inspectors and public prosecutors participated in the search of the Caribbean Ferries ship that was bound for Puerto Rico after receiving intelligence reports. The inspection of a pick-up truck using search dogs that would travel to Puerto Rico resulted in the finding.

The DNCD reports that hidden compartments were found inside the Nissan Rogue, Puerto Rican license plate HXN980 containing the 30 packages of the substance, wrapped in carbon paper.

The authorities arrested an unnamed 26-year old Dominican who will be sentenced to coercive measures in the next hours for violating the Drugs and Controlled Substances Law 50-88.

The 30 packages of the substance were sent under chain of custody to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF), for the corresponding purposes.
